Dans cette leçon, nous allons apprendre à dire la date.
 
1: Principes de base.
Le principe de la date en anglais est le même qu'en français. Seule change la manière de l'exprimer. C'est ce que nous allons voir. Nous commencerons par étudier les jours de la semaine, puis les mois et enfin nous verrons comment assembler le tout.

Oui, dans le monde Anglo-saxon, la semaine commence le dimanche ! Cela ne signifie pas que l'on travaille comme un lundi, c'est seulement une convention d'écriture.

Arrive la première difficulté sérieuse.

Le français dit: Mardi 18 avril.

L'anglais dit: Mardi, 18ème jour d'avril.

Cela signifie qu'il faut être capable de savoir dire: premier, second, troisième etc ...

s'écrit:

Monday, March 22nd 1962.

et se lit:

Monday, March the twenty-second, nineteen sixty-two.

Littéralement: "Lundi, vingt-deuxième jour de mars, 1962. "

Attention:

A l'oral, on divise l'année en deux: 1979 = 19 / 79 se dit "nineteen seventy-nine."

Lors de l’écriture des mois et du jour, le mois est placé avant le jour, contrairement à ce dont nous avons l’habitude en français, ainsi:

Tues 02/12
signifie
Mardi 12 Février et non pas Mardi 02 Décembre.
